 Onwughalu Elochukwu Callistus is a distinguished educator, environmental advocate, mentor, and planetary science enthusiast from Igbo-Ukwu in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria. He is  recognized for his contributions to education, environmental sustainability, geography, astronomy, and youth development.

He received his primary education at Central School, Igbo-Ukwu, and attended Boys’ Secondary School, Igbo-Ukwu, and Unity Secondary School, Ewohimi, for his secondary education. He later obtained the National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Estate Management from the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State. In pursuit of excellence in the education sector, he earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from the National Open University of Nigeria.

Currently, he is pursuing a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Environmental Science and Resource Management as well as a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Educational Administration and Planning at the National Open University of Nigeria. He also holds a Professional Certificate in Educational Technology obtained from Dimsi College of Education and Technology, Abuja. He has numerous professional/capacity building certificates to his credits.

His professional affiliations span several reputable organizations, including the Institute of Chartered Geographers of Nigeria (ICGN), the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), the International Planetarium Society (IPS), the National Institute of Office Administrators and Information Managers (NIOAIM), the African Astronomical Society (AfAS), the African Planetarium Association (APA), the Astronomers Without Borders (AWB), the Geography Teachers Association of Nigeria (GTAN) and the History Teachers Association of Nigeria (HITAN), among others.

A committed leader and education professional, Callistus currently serves as the President of the Geography Teachers Association of Nigeria (GTAN), Anambra State Chapter. He also serves as the Anambra State Secretary of the Global Environmental and Climate Conservation Initiative (GECCI), an Executive Member of the History Teachers Association of Nigeria, Aguata Zone, and the Board of Trustees member/National Secretary of Albaset Charity Foundation Nigeria. He previously served as the Anambra State Ambassador of Climate Action Group from 2020 to 2023.

Callistus currently serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the African Planetarium Association (APA), having been nominated to the body in 2024. In this capacity, he works alongside astronomy and planetarium professionals from across Africa to advance astronomy education, scientific outreach, and capacity-building initiatives throughout the continent.

Driven by a passion for empowering young minds, he founded educational initiatives that organize annual Geography and Astronomy competitions for secondary school students. Through these initiatives, he continues to inspire interest in science, environmental stewardship, and academic excellence among the younger generation.

As a writer, he has published a Geography handbook and has completed additional manuscripts in Education, Geography, Environmental Studies, and Astronomy, which are awaiting publication.

Through his dedication to education, environmental sustainability, geography, astronomy, and youth development, Elochukwu Callistus continues to make meaningful contributions to knowledge advancement and community development within Nigeria and beyond.
